Africa Magic Celebrates 15 Years of Quality Entertainment for Africa, by Africa

Africa Magic, the leading provider of entertainment content for Africa by Africans, is celebrating 15 years of magic, quality content and the continuous development of the local African television entertainment industry.

 

According to Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu,  Channel Director, Africa Magic Channels, “For 15 years the Africa Magic channels have entertained viewers and audiences with the best content coming from some of the most amazing talent behind and in front of the cameras.

 

“In doing this, we have also undoubtedly led the development of the current African television entertainment scene, a role we continue to play.”

 

Beginning with just two channels in 2003, the Africa Magic channel roster now includes six channels with three local language channels: Africa Magic Yoruba, Africa Magic Igbo and Africa Magic Hausa.

 

Mr. John Ugbe, CEO, MultiChoice Nigeria, Speaking on the milestone said: “The celebration of Africa Magic is also the celebration of Africa’s film and television industry.

 

“The growth witnessed in the industry can be linked to the impact of the Africa Magic channels in operation across 53 countries on the continent.

 

“The Africa Magic channels have also consistently proven to be a platform for the unearthing, promotion and celebration of existing and up and coming film and TV talent, and the channels’ various means and models of industry partnerships ensure a steady line of critical investment in the industry.”

 

Over the years, Africa Magic has developed original content that continues to entertain Africa: from the flagship TV drama, Tinsel, which already holds the record for the longest running series in Sub Saharan Africa; to the Pan African drama series, Jacob’s Cross, magazine shows 53 Extra and Jara; and comedy series The Johnsons and Hustle.

 

The channels are also known the telenovelas which have become television staples over the years including Hotel Majestic, Hush, Battleground, Ajoche, Forbidden and Eve.

Celebrating You 2018: Stars Light Up TD’s Glamorous Year-End Party

A host of dignitaries including government functionaries, corporate big-wigs and a star-studded line-up of guests and artistes were in attendance as Technology Distributions Ltd. (TD), Sub-Saharan Africa’s foremost ICT distribution giants successfully hosted another memorable annual dinner/awards party at Eko Hotel & Suites on Sunday, December 9, 2018.

 

Celebrating You 2018 certainly lived up to its billing as arguably the biggest and most anticipated celebratory event in Corporate Nigeria, going by the huge turn-out and profile of guests and entertainers which the event attracted.

 

Led by the Ghanaian Minister of State in Charge of National Security, Bryan Acheampong; doyen of Corporate Nigeria and founder, Diamond Bank Plc., Pascal Dozie; Chairman, Zinox Group, Leo Stan Ekeh; Chairman, Board of Directors, TD, Prof. Anya O. Anya; Group Deputy Managing Director, Access Bank Plc., Roosevelt Ogbonna; Founder and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Ausso Leadership Academy, Austin Okere, among many others.

The well-attended event also witnessed a star-studded cast of entertainers including A-list artistes Yemi Alade, Duncan Mighty and Wande Coal with ace comedian, Bovi as the event host.

 

Also thrilling guests at the after-party was two-time AMVCA winner and gifted artiste, Falz and celebrity DJ Big N.

 

In addition to a star-studded guest list including captains of industries, bank CEOs, dignitaries and other prominent representatives of the biggest brand names in Corporate Nigeria, the event specially recognized and celebrated TD’s partner eco-system, namely a host of globally-renowned Original Equipment Manufacturers in the technology space and other channel partners.

 

Biggest winners on the night include Microsoft (OEM of the Year), Konga (Mainstream Partner of the Year), Blueprint Technologies Ltd. (Partner of the Year), SPAR (TD Lifestyle Partner of the Year), TDelight Phones & Communications Ltd. (Mobile Partner of the Year), The Shops (Vendor of the Year) and the duo of Tobest Computers Ltd. and Edgebase Line Solutions Ltd who claimed the TD 2018 Legacy Award – a non-voting category.

 

Other winners include Fine Brothers Ltd. (Partner of the Year – Enugu), 24-7 Technologies Ltd. (Partner of the Year – Owerri), Rewjido Nigeria Ltd. (Partner of the Year – Port Harcourt), Foretec Investment Ltd. (Partner of the Year – Abuja), Grocery Bazaar Ltd. (TDiLife Partner of the Year) and Alliance Marketing (Partner of the Year – Ghana).

 

In addition, 29 organizations were rewarded with the TD 2018 Good Payment Behaviour Award.

Also recognized was Mr. Foluso Olulade, a staff of TD’s Marketing department who carted home the highly-coveted Staff of the Year award.

 

In her speech at the event, Mrs. Chioma Ekeh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), TD, expressed deep appreciation to the partners, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders whose patronage, support and loyalty were indispensable to the company’s sterling performance in 2018.

 

“We remain ever grateful and recognize indeed that it is you we are here to celebrate.

 

“Your presence here symbolizes a cherished relationship either directly with TD, our principals and associates.

“The world is going cloud and you can be rest assured that, TD is not left out.

 

“We have made significant investments in ERP solutions platform to ensure that the overwhelming majority of our processes are cloud-based and ensure that the business is driven largely by technology,” she stated.

 

After a sensational performance by the talented opera and crossover singer Ranti which saw her hit all the right high notes, the stage was set for Yemi Alade to thrill the audience and the Johnny crooner did not disappoint with an energetic performance that set the tone for what was to come.

 

Up next was Duncan Mighty who got the expansive hall rocking with some of his best hit songs before exiting the stage for Wande Coal who got the guests dancing to hit jams from his early Mo’Hits record days and some of his latest bangers.

The after-party was the icing on the cake as Falz delivered an eye-catching performance which got the guests and other attendees in the party mood, paving the way for DJ Big N to dish out a flowing series of hit tracks which kept the hall rocking till the wee hours.

 

The well-attended event served as an avenue to unwind after the rigours of the current year and re-energize for the challenges of the coming year.

 

Celebrating You 2018 is also an effective medium of showing appreciation and encouragement to outstanding individuals and corporate entities that have positively impacted TD’s performance during the year under review.

Club MTV Base in partnership with Coca Cola was sensational with Olamide, Juliet Ibrahim, Sensei Uche in attendance

The highly anticipated edition of Club MTV Base finally took place at Quilox Night Club, VI on December 8 2018.

 

The 24-hour music channel from Viacom International Media Networks Africa, MTV Base, partnered with beverage heavyweight, Coca Cola for the successful 90s themed party.

 

Tagged ‘Back To The 90s’, the party was attended by over 300 party goers dressed in stunning 90s fashion pieces.

The event was the perfect way for fans of the music channel to begin the 2018 festive season.

 

Attendees of the nostalgic night of fun were welcomed with an exquisite red carpet experience.

 

Guests were treated to rich array of Coca Cola Mix cocktails as well as memory laden shots from the 90’s themed Tecno Mobile photobooth.

The party, which was one of the most exciting club events of the year, had several celebrities in attendance.

 

Everyone from Nigerian rapper, Olamide; pop star, Musician Chike; OAP Sensei Uche one of UK’s biggest concert promoters, SMADE and Nollywood actress, Juliet Ibrahim were in attendance at the 90s celebration.

 

While the event began at 10pm, the party entered full swing by midnight when DJ Colex took control of the wheels of steel.

 

Host of MTV Base DJ Takeover, DJ TTB, also had his visual mix of thrilling songs from the 90s featured during the night for all who attended to truly have a great time.

Access Bank is introducing to the African entertainment and lifestyle scene, a highly entertaining fusion of Music, Art, Film and Fashion – Born in Africa Festival (BAFEST).

 

Designed uniquely to retell the African story globally and better connect the world to Africa, BAFEST is set to hold on December 16th, 2018.

 

The Born in Africa Festival is a celebration of the unparalleled dynamism of the true African spirit, birthed from a need to tell the true African story in all its glory.

 

It’s a full day event where Africa’s finest creatives showcase their talents to the world.

The Born In Africa Festival takes place at Eko Atlantic City and features notable music stars such as Awilo, Sho Madjozi, Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Falz, Olamide, Yemi Alade, Kizz Daniel, D’banj and lots more.

 

The event opens at 9am with the Fashion, Art and Film Park, where various artists and fashion designers like David Tlale and Tiffany Amber will exhibit their works, while some of Africa’s finest Filmmakers will host movie screenings.

 

A music concert will close off the day’s activities, starting at 6pm.
