Arogundade, Sidmach MD to Deliver 2017 BoICT Lecture

Mr. Peter Adedayo Arogundade, managing director and chief executive officer, Sidmach Technologies Nigeria Limited, has been unveiled as the keynote speaker at this year’s Beacon of ICT (BoICT) annual Lecture/Awards series.

Beacon of ICT Distinguished Lecture/Awards Series, organized by Communications Week Media Ltd., publishers of Nigeria Communicationsweek, is widely regarded as the most prestigious annual event available in the ICT industry in Nigeria.

The lecture series is reserved for distinguished achievers. Past keynote lecturers include: Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, then EVC, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC); Engr. Yomi Bolarinwa, former Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC); Dr. Jean Luc Fort, CEO at OR System France and a specialist in Counterparty Risk; and Professor Chris Nwagboso, Chairman, Knowledge Factory International, United Kingdom.

Others are: Uche Orji, managing director/chief executive officer, Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA); Biodu Omoniyi, Managing Director/CEO, VDT Communications; and Ayotunde Coker, Managing Director, Rack Centre Limited.

His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, executive Governor of Delta State will be gracing the occasion as special guest of honour.

Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, executive vice chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will chair the occasion and Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, chairman of Open Media Group is the chief host.

 ICT Association Presidents, captains of industries, emerging entrepreneurs, the media, among others, are some of the confirmed guests to grace the occasion.    

At the 2017 BoICT Lecture/Awards, Mr. Arogundade, will be speaking on the theme: “Empowering Youth Through Digital Citizenship”.

Prior to Sidmach, Mr. Arogundade worked at the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL), now defunct, Unilever PLC, Shell Petroleum Development Company and Data Sciences.

He is an acclaimed System Developer, with numerous IT and executive leadership certifications acquired in Nigeria and overseas.

Speaking on the 2017 distinguished lecture, Mr. Ken Nwogbo, editor In-chief/CEO, Communications Week Media, said that the event is aimed at charting the way forward for the country’s ICT sector while the award ceremony rewards best practices and recognize outstanding contributions to the growth of the sector.

This year’s Beacon of ICT Distinguished Lecture/Awards Series is slated for Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Eko Hotels and Suites by 6 pm.

“The theme leans heavily on the fact that Information and Communication Technology has become a vital player in the national development of modern society. Empowering youths with ICT will help re-channel their energies into creating very honest money making ideas online and strike it rich big time, thereby eliminating poverty and dependence on government.

“The Beacon of ICT Distinguished Lecture is designed to explore efforts to put Nigeria on the global information and communications technologies map.

“There has never been a dull moment with the event which draws top politicians and government functionaries as well captains in the ICT industry as well financial institutions”, Mr. Nwogbo said.

He added that the award recipients in different categories shall be presented with the plaque symbolising a pledge to the principals of the Excellence and Solutions Culture.
