WAI Brigade Inaugurates New SW Council, Appoints Adeoye ANC
The War Against Indiscipline (WAI) Brigade Nigeria has confirmed new zonal appointments and inaugurated a fresh council for its South West command, in a move to refresh and reshape its formation for increased efficiency in national orientation and intelligence gathering.
Speaking at the ceremony, Adeoye Gabriel, the new Zonal Commander, South West, said the new council and officers must increase the level of patriotism, integrity and commitment, and be prepared always to champion intelligence gathering, community policing, and combat social disorder and indiscipline with WAI’s strong presence in all 774 local government councils across the federation.
He added that the new appointments reflect a high level of honour, trust and respect for the outstanding officers, as such, they must remain active and steadfast on WAI’s updated mandate of community policing and intelligence gathering as it is achievable and plays a key role in nation building. “
The commander urged the newly appointed senior officers to abhor corruption and contribute meaningfully in their environment, perform their civic duties creditably and be worthy ambassadors who can ultimately help in injecting into the society a holistic set of public and private decorum in the national life.
Adeoye emphasized that efforts are in place to partner more relevant organizations governmental and non-governmental agencies within the zone for higher efficiency.
He tasked the officers on the new order, GOWE – General Orders and Work Ethics for all WAI members nationwide, hinting that GOWE would be operational alongside other Brigade guidelines and Handbook of 1985, 1994 and 2009 respectively.
The Zonal Commander also highlighted several plans and course of actions lined up to reposition and re-engineer the Brigade in line with the aims and objectives of the federal Government towards intelligence gathering and community policing for greater collaborations with other law enforcement agencies to enhance national security.
In his remarks, Waheed Ishola, Lagos State director, NOA, commended the newly appointed officers for their relentless sense of patriotism and volunteerism, and charged them to live up to the true ideals of WAI Brigade. Ishola charged the officers to accept their appointment as greater call of duty especially because the government is currently working tirelessly to rid the nation of corruption and other social vices.
Ishola enjoined WAI officers to collaborate with NOA more to consistently raise awareness, positively change attitudes, values and behaviours; accurately and adequately inform; and sufficiently mobilize citizens to act in ways that promote peace, harmony and national development.
Two special guest speakers who attended the ceremony also took turns to address strategic topics with the officers.
While industry leader, Mayowa Olanihun spoke on how to enhance strategic impact of WAI for effectiveness; security consultant, Chief Okenna, stressed critical strategies and modern tactics on intelligence gathering and communities policing.
As part of the new restructuring, former WAI Lagos State Commander, Adeoye Gabriel who was appointed Assistant National Commander last August has also been confirmed the new Zonal Commander (South West), while Commander Wale Adebayo appointed as deputy with a new council inaugurated last Friday for the South West zone covering all six states in the zone.

Legit.ng, Shade of Life Foundation Partner to Advance Autism Awareness in Nigeria
Legit.ng recently joined forces with the Shade of Life Foundation to become a voice of autism, and drive advocacy for improved media support during Autism Awareness Month.
Conversations around media support exploration was led by Joseph Omotayo, head of Department for Human Interest Stories at Legit.ng, and Dr. Eziafakaku Nwokolo, founder and CEO of the Shade of Life Foundation,
This partnership is a response to the concerns raised by organizations like the Shade of Life Foundation about the level of support received from the media in discussing autism as a disability.
While other disabilities may receive attention, autism, with its critical developmental implications often lacks adequate representation in mainstream media.
Recognizing the importance of addressing these concerns, Legit.ng took proactive steps by integrating itself into the essence of autism awareness.
It facilitated a one-hour workshop with Dr. Nwokolo, the founder of the foundation, to deepen our understanding of autism, its various spectrums, and the language boundaries associated with it.
Other steps we took in advocating autism awareness in the media, can be seen in our attached press release.
Legit.ng believes that by amplifying the voices of autism and advocating for better media representation, we can contribute to creating a more inclusive and accepting society for all.

As Nigeria Struggle, Tanzania Turns off Power Plants Due to Excess Supply
While 85 per cent of Nigeria is in darkness, Tanzania, an African country has shut down five hydroelectric stations in a bid to reduce excess electricity in the national grid.
Kassim Majaliwa, prime minister, Tanzania, has said the main plant, Mwalimu Nyerere Hydroelectric Station, alone generated enough electricity to power major cities, including Dar es Salaam, the country’s commercial hub.
It is the first time Tanzania, which suffers chronic power shortages, has closed hydroelectric stations due to excess production.
“We have turned off all these stations because the demand is low and the electricity production is too much, we have no allocation now,” an official from state-run power company, Tanesco, said.
The 2,115MW Julius Nyerere Hydropower Dam is said to be almost filled with water following heavy rains that started early this year.
Meanwhile, while the country has an installed capacity of 1,938MW and the grid installed capacity of 1,899MW, Nigeria which has an installed capacity of 13,000MW is struggling to electrify 85 per cent of its electricity consumers.
