Mr. Osita Chidoka, Corps Marshal of FRSC, has said that it was ready to partner with MTN on e-tracking of patrol vehicles and teams on the nation's highways.
A statement signed by Wole Olaniran, Corps Public Education officer, said Chidoka announced the plan during a quarterly meeting of National Executive of Road Marshalls.
He said under the proposed partnership, patrol vehicles would carry special installations for on-the-spot verification of traffic offenders' drivers' licences.
Chidoka said the FRSC had also concluded plans to partner with state governors for logistic assistance, to address road traffic peculiarities associated with states nationwide.
He said about 165 patrol vehicles, 12 ambulances and six heavy duty trucks would be acquired in the next few weeks.
``An awareness campaign will be initiated to educate the Nigerian motoring public on the hazards associated with overloading and non-use of safety helmet by motorcyclists.
``This campaign will start on Jan. 1, 2009 as deadline for a nationwide clampdown on motorcyclists who flout the regulation on the use of safety helmet,'' the statement added.
Chidoka reminded the Special Marshalls of their relevance as the largest volunteer workforce in road safety administration.
