Celtel Nigeria and the British Council are now set to develop another pool of managers who are expected to take companies operating in Nigeria to its desired place in the global economy.
Celtel entered into an agreement with the United Kingdom organisation devoted to promoting learning opportunities and creative ideas, to help the country develop a crop of young professionals in management and leadership under the platform of the organisation’s management express programme.
Management Express is a set of products developed by the British Council targeted at early to mid career professionals and designed to assist them to develop their career.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Chris Adetayo sponsorship manager, Celtel Nigeria, , said, , said the company is involved in the programme because of its commitment to empowering young and mid career professionals, thus helping to create a pool of future bright and competent business leaders that will drive the engine of Nigeria corporate business.
He said the series of lectures or professional workshops and mentorship programme which is open to those who are just starting their professional career and those in middle level management will help to make the participants become better managers and leaders.
A series of lectures was held last month across various cities as part of the professional management development programme.
The July programme which has as its focus strategy for achieving results or achieving goals. The programme is divided into two parts: Breakfast Meeting for mid career managers and a forum for young professionals or those just starting their career.
The theme of the Breakfast Meeting is "Strategic Leadership for Delivering Business Results" while the subject matter of the Forum is "Self Management: The Innovative Guide to Achieving your Goal".
The training programme will take place in Lagos and Kano at MUSON Centre and Royal Tropicana Hotel respectively.
Professor Pikay Richardson, seasoned management expert and educator, , will conduct the training programme. He is currently a visiting professor/scholar of business management in the department of marketing, faculty of business, University of Botswana.
