Computerize Nigeria Project (CNP), an initiative of Zinox Technologies, born out of the will to develop a strong knowledge-driven economy has initiated the e-School Project.
The e-school project is designed to assist Nigerian Primary and Secondary schools take their rightful place among world class-institutions in the information technology driven world.
Mrs. Vivian Abii, executive director, Zinox Technologies Limited, at the launch of the Project last week in Lagos said the initiative is beneficial to students, teachers and school managements in the present world of ‘digital knowledge democracy’ where people have been given the power to express themselves and take charge of their lives.
According to her, students would be able to enjoy quality lessons, acquire advanced IT,
project and presentation skills; be independent and well informed.
For the teachers, Abii said the initiative would enable them become highly rated and focused as they can have access to information globally, be flexible and result oriented as well as prepare and document their lectures more conveniently and efficiently.
She added that e-project would give global visibility and access to the worldwide web to schools, enable them administer and set their schools on the right part with changing trends in the IT driven world.
Ben Ejimagwa, head of e-Strategies and solutions at the launch listed the contents of the e-School Project to include: Integrated e-Learning Centre, 1km Square Zinox Wireless Campus Cloud, Free School Website, School Customized Web Portal; which would all come with specific perks.
Other contents according to him include Free Customized e-Mail Addresses, Highly Subsidized Prices for Staff and Students Computer Ownership Scheme, Subsidized training, Flexible Payment Term with Subsidized Interest Rate, Trade-in Option and 24 Months Exclusive "no story" warranty for every equipment purchased.
Ejimagwa said the e-School project will deliver highly discounted PCs, printers, software to schools and through Zinox Wireless Cloud, will provide high speed C-Band wireless Internet and telephony in order to promote borderless learning environments.
The e-School project has various models which include the entry model, medium model, advanced model; which cost N3.8m, N5.1m and N7.3 m respectively and another: the very robust model which has its own unique features as well as advantages.
CNP is in partnership with Intel Corporation, Microsoft and Cifex of France to structure the e-School Project according to individual needs.
Also speaking at the event was David Floyd, CEO of Freeplay Energy PLC who presented the Freeplay range of products – the Jonta flashlight, the Kito Lantern, the Indigo Lantern and the EyeMax AM/FM Radio Receiver – tailored to suit the needs of students in the electric power challenged Nigerian environment.
