QED Diversifies into CCTV Distributorship

Foremost telecommunications and computer company, QED Limited has expanded its business concerns to include securities with its distribution rights on electronic surveillance gadgets in Nigeria. The company, established in 1993 to clone computers until it later started selling branded computers and laptops like HP and Dell  now represents  Proline UK and Iptec as their sole distributors in Nigeria in close circuit television. It also markets for Xvision and CNB in close circuit television (CCTV).
Mrs. Jumoke Moronfolu, managing director of   QED Limited emphasized on the need for companies and private individuals to improve security in their workplaces and homes with close circuit television (CCTV). She said that security is very important and people should not take it for granted even as she revealed that once thieves discover that there is a CCTV mounted in a place that they don’t go near the place not to talk of trying to steal.
Moronfolu while speaking on the usefulness of CCTV said that chief executives can save their energy and time running around trying to monitor who is working or not. With CCTV, she said the device can be conveniently used to monitor movement of people within an organization .When people know that they are being monitored, there is every likelihood that they would want to work harder and this invariably will lead to higher productivity. Moronfolu said as an executive, the CCTV system allows you to play back what had been going in your office while you were away. She said many organizations has used the new development to reduce incidence of theft in their various offices and also informed that all branches of banks have been compelled to mount the gadget in their locations.
With the environment completely monitored electronically from a central location through camera , Moronfolu said the  cost of maintaining security is reduced drastically through the reduction in number of security personnel needed in such an organization as activities in and around the house are captured and recorded. She therefore said the service  is a must  use by   banks, supermarkets, point of sales, educational institutions , live performance halls, industries, factories  and others.
Further Moronfolu said the influx of made in China phones into the country has reduced the profit margin in the handset business. She said that selling of handsets does not require any technical expertise and that this has resulted that every person who has money to import has found his or her way into handset importation. She also disclosed that the economic meltdown is taking its toll on the business as the exchange rate of Naira to dollar keeps hitting the rooftop.
However she said that despite the influx of cheap and substandard phones from China that anybody that has taste still patronizes Nokia and Samsung products.
Mrs. Moronfolu decried the state of electricity supply in the country and said that the situation is posing a major challenge to the manufacturing sector as most of the big manufacturing companies according to her, are relocating to Ghana .  “ the cost of running generator is depleting whatever profit we make from our business”,  she complained.
