Multi-Links Telkom, a Telkom-owned business in Nigeria, has entered into an exclusive deal with African Prepaid Services (APS), an arm of Blue Label Telecoms Group, that allows the latter distribution rights to all of Multi- Links’ products and services, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek can now reveal.
The deal designed to tighten Multi-Links’ hold of the telecom market is also seen as a model that will pay off immediately.
The APS team including Greg Schultz and Bernard Deely-Barnard, managing director and sales director respectively, has held series of meetings with the Multi-Links Telkom dealers to apprise them of the new development.
Nigeria CommunicationsWeek gathered that under the deal, APS’ primary focus is to vigorously spearhead and drive Multi-Links revenue generating strategies.
APS will be riding on the parent company Blue Label Telecoms’ experience as a leading distributor of prepaid secure electronic tokens of value and transactional services within emerging and developing economies, including India, Mexico, Mozambique and the DRC. It is also one of the largest independent distributors of Vodacom starter packs in South Africa.
Multi-Links Telkom, one of Nigeria largest private telecom operators, was the first company in Nigeria to introduce a digital fixed-mobile technology that enables provision of more efficient and cost-effective wireless solutions.
It has since the arrival of Telkom, the new owners stood out distinctively in both service delivery and profitability.
