MTI-Unitower Networks Services Limited, a subsidiary of MTI Nigeria Plc has commenced full scale operations based on a shareholders agreement signed by MTI Nigeria Plc and SPAN LLC of Miami, USA.
With the development, the company is now ready marshal and deploy, manage and maintain the infrastructure needed to keep the networks of telecommunications operators running efficiently and effectively, employing the expertise of highly skilled staff and subcontracting partners with specialist skill sets that spans – site acquisition and zoning, civil, structural, electrical, power, radio frequency engineering, tower erection, as well as maintenance, logistics and related support services.
It will be recalled that MTI Plc recently acquired an infrastructure sharing and co-location license from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for its joint venture company, MTI Unitower Networks Services Limited to carry out operations in tower leasing, infrastructure management, asset acquisition and lease back in the telecom infrastructure sector.
In line with repositioning the company for global competition and recognition, the company recently finalised agreement with SPAN LLC to formally create MTI-Unitower Network Services Limited, a joint venture company to provide and manage tower infrastructure for wireless telecom operators.
The technical and management team of experts from SPAN LLC of Miami, USA one of America’s telecommunication infrastructure company has finally arrived Nigeria.
Members of the team include Gerald Zadikoff, CEO, SPAN LLC, Steve Wiseman, Director, MTI-Unitower Network Services Limited, Andre Claeys, CEO, MTI-Unitower Network Sevices Limited, Luk Jonchheer, CTO; and Geoffrey Critchon, CMO, both of MTI-Unitower Network Services Limited.
The company is poised to become a global player in the business of acquisition, design and building of co-location sites for lease and immediate occupancy by wireless/broadcast operators; buy and lease back telecom infrastructure from industry operators and telecommunications infrastructure maintenance service contracts in Nigeria.
