Adebayo Chairs Telecom/Device Forum, ICT Oracle, Uwaje Talks Security

  The eagerly awaited Telecom/Device Forum, a technology forum designed for key actors in the telecommunications, banking, e-payment channel providers, device manufacturers, network operators, software vendors, distributors and retailers, as well as internet service providers, will be chaired by Gbenga Adebayo, chairman, Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (Alton).
Adebayo will be joined by Dr. Chris Uwaje, the oracle of the Nigerian IT Industry and regional director, D-Link West Africa, Dr. Paul Lawal, managing director, Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), Kyari Bukar, managing director, Valucard Nigeria as well as Bekele Tadesse, sales director, Harris Stratex Nigeria among others.
They will present valid forecasts of developments in the telecom industry and examine the driving forces behind these developments especially in e-payment and emerging technologies at the forum slated for September 22 at Golden Gate Restaurant, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The theme of the forum is “Telecom Industry Fuelling the Future of e-Payment System” and it is designed to give both the layperson and the professional an update of emerging technologies, e-payment and handheld devices and related business trends and events.
Telecom/Device Forum is being put together by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and Communications Week Media, publishers of Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, the most trusted & by far the largest source for information on ICT and banking technology in Nigeria
Reuben Muoka, head, public affairs of the NCC and Ken Nwogbo, editor, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek said in a statement that the forum is designed to give both the layperson and the professional an update of emerging technologies, e-payment and handheld devices as well as related business trends and events.
According to them Adebayo, a telecom engineer of note was chosen to chair the event because of his unbridled passion for the growth and development of the telecommunications industry.
Adebayo had a successful career with Siemens before he joined VGC Communications Ltd now bought by MTN Nigeria, as the technical manager in 2000.
Following his success; he was promoted as the first Nigerian General Manager of the company in 2002 and under his management, the company grew rapidly from a community telephone service provider to full national operator status within five years.
Because of his passion for telecommunications and quality of service delivery, he established Community Network Support Services (CNSS), a telecommunications outsourcing company that is managing networks for big network operators in the country.
Uwaje, who will x-ray different security approaches towards protecting e-payment system has been variously named in the IT industry but easily identified with the “Oracle” of the industry.
He was named IT Personality of the Year in 2008 and is the regional director for D-Link International in-charge of operations in Ghana, Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria, West Africa’s technological and economic powerhouse.
Uwaje is a renowned expert in the fields of engineering solutions, research, software design and development respectively
Bukar of ValuCard Nigeria who has always maintained that a correlation exists between economic growth and a sound payment system will examine the e-payment system.
He has a sound education and profound knowledge of the industry having worked at Hewlett-Packard, a leading Information Technology Company in the United States in various capacities during his 14 years stint including working as Process Engineer, Manufacturing Development Engineer, Marketing Program Manager, Senior IT Consultant and Technical Marketing Program Manager.
Bukar joined ValuCard Nigeria Plc in June 2004 from FSB International Bank where he was the executive director in charge of Electronic Banking, IT and Operations.
