Pomp as Msimango Hands over to Hedberg @ Multi Links Telkom

They came in resplendent dresses with touches of turquoise blue, some with ties, shirts and natives of this unique colour.
It turned out a night filled with surprises and lots of fun entertainment and one guests and Thami Msimango, the chief celebrant would not forget in a hurry.
It was a night to thank Msimango for his immense contributions to Multi-Links Telkom and formal handover to Mr. Jeffrey Hedberg, the new chief executive officer of the company.
Tagged “Thami Msimango ‘s Blaze of Glory”, there was so much fun, music, comedy, wining and dining and dancing at the event set out at the exquisite Lagos Oriental Hotel which overlooks the lagoon from the Lekki axis of Lagos.
The high point of the night of colours was the presentation of gifts by IMS and Multi-Links Telkom management to Thami ably assisted by his wife.
Okey Bakassi, ace comedian, lit up the night with his exhilarating and rib cracking jokes, while the five-man Al Capella band raised the roof with their soulful rendition of special numbers.
The Ijodi dancers added vive to the occasion with their reverberating heavy African percussion. The Ijodi dancers showed a lot of stamina with their very rigorous dance steps reminiscent of the famous Zulu dances steps. The costume was a radiant reminder of the rigour of the Zulu culture. There was so much whirling of bodies in the well choreographed movements of the group.
Dede Mabiaku, the Afro Beat and Highlife maestro wrapped up the night of brilliance with popular rendition of tunes which kept the guests on their feet dancing and asking for more.
Thami’s message of appreciation to the staff who supported him in the turnaround and re-engineering processes whilst he held forth as the Chief Executive officer of the company kick started comments from staff. Going down memory lane, he noted that coming to Nigeria for him was like travelling home (South Africa) because of the warmth of the Nigerian people, their sense of hospitality and the unparalleled welcoming spirit coupled with the good local cuisine.
He commended the great energy and commitment of the staff to the wellbeing of the company through selfless disposition. He admonished the expatriate staff to absorb the local elements in their work environment by integrating themselves to the culture and social character of the Nigerian people.
Stressing the need for integration of the people and the company’s social fabric, he spoke extensively on the culture of giving back to the society through the means of corporate social responsibility investments (CSRi). According to him, CSRi should be cultivated as an integral aspect of business networking.
While formally performing the exchange of baton via the formal introduction of the new Hedberg, he re-assured all that he was leaving the custody of the company in very competent hands through the leadership of Mr. Hedberg.
While receiving the mantle of leadership from Thami, the new CEO expressed confidence in the excellent leadership of Thami during his stewardship at Multi-Links Telkom.
He urged all and sundry to be prepared to uplift the company from its current position by gearing up for the mandatory clean up exercise that would help the company get on to the position of reckoning in the telecommunications market.
Jeffrey noted that in the course of his familiarization tour of the various Divisions and units of the business, he had noticed that Multi-Links Telkom is blessed with a lot of potentials. According to him, it was about time to stop talking about the potentials but to focus on the need to take advantage of the potentials.
He noted that it is a great honour to work in Multi-Links Telkom and take it to the next level. Jeffrey promised to listen and to learn from his colleagues in the drive to make the company the choice of the employees and the pride of the investors.
