Nwokike, Nigerian Reelected Watra Scribe

Nnamdi Nwokike, a Nigerian has been reelected executive secretary of West Africa Telecommunications Regulators Assembly (Watra) for another three year tenure, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek has learnt.
He was elected at the just concluded general assembly in Cotonou, Republic of Benin by the 15 member countries association.
Nwokike is a multi-task and a start up expert with varied experiences traversing economic consultancies, marketing and customer relationship management.
He worked with Multiver Systems Limited, the consulting outfit that worked on the setting up of the National Planning Commission, as a Consultant in 1985 and traversed retail business and fast moving consumer group industry (FMCG) with AG Leventis Group and Seven Up Bottling Co PLC.
Nwokike also worked with Nigerian Breweries Plc before joining the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) where he set up the Consumer Affairs Bureau as head of the unit.  The Unit under his leadership created the necessary impetus for Consumer Education and Protection, culminating in the set up of Telecoms Consumer Parliament, Outreach programmes, Production of Consumer fact sheets & Bill of Rights, Conducting and Publishing of Consumer Satisfaction Surveys and the preambles for the setup of the Automated and Interactive Consumer Complaints Center.
In September 2006, he was sent to Watra as the Acting Executive Secretary and in February 2007 at the Ordinary General Meeting of the organization, Nwokike was unanimously adopted by the Conference of Regulators as the substantive Executive Secretary.
Watra consists of independent National Regulatory Authorities and departments for regulation of Telecommunications services established by governments of member states in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) sub-region and Mauritania.
