ValuCard Nigeria Plc has redeemed prizes for the 2010 FIFA World Cup ‘ValuCard Hopes & Dreams promo’ in which five Visa Cardholders and five merchants had emerged winners.
The winners in the cardholder category are expected to travel to South Africa in an all expense paid trip to watch some of the different matches during the World Cup, while the merchants won N1m each for accepting Visa cards as means of payment at their shops and locations.
The event which held at the company’s Head office had in attendance the top management of the company, led by Mr. Kyari Bukar, managing director, ValuCard, Holly Jones a representative of Visa International, the winners with their partners, staff of E-business Departments of the winners’ issuing and acquiring banks.
The five lucky winners in the Cardholder category are Bashorun Ayodele (the only female among the winners), Ikenna Victor Odigboh, Akeem Alata, Oluwaseun Aboderin and Awverukeruwve Godwin who would be going to the World Cup event with their partners. Also winners on the Merchants category are Shoprite Supermarket and G.Ogisi, proprietor of Conoil Filing Station in Apapa received N2m and N1m respectively. Earlier two other merchants Mega Investments Ltd (Mega Plaza) and Cybercafe Restaurant received their prizes of N1m each.
During the draws, which held twice at the Company‘s corporate head office, the first draws produced two winners, Ikenna Odigboh and Akeem Alata both Zenith Bank Visa Cardholders who will watch the Nigeria/Argentina match, the last three winners; Bashorun Ayodele (Oceanic Bank Visa Cardholder), Oluwaseun Moyosore Aboderin (Access Bank Visa Cardholder) and Godwin (UBA Visa Cardholder) emerged in the final draws and will watch matches in the R16, quarter final and semi final stages of the competition respectively.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Kyari Bukar, Managing Director, ValuCard Nigeria Plc, said that the promo was in line with the partnership between Visa International and FIFA to project major event such as the World Cup in South Africa, adding that it was also to boost the use of cards as means of payments at merchant locations aimed at encouraging people to adopt card as a culture of payment. He noted that the winners were drawn from those that had used their Visa cards being processed by ValuCard Nigeria Plc for payments between the months of December 2009 and March 2010.
The lucky winners, who will be received by FIFA and Visa International officials in South Africa as VIPs to the event, are expected to spend four days and three nights and housed in four star international hotels, with a standby tour guide that will take them to places of interest.
