LG Electronics Nigeria has joined its global office in introducing its global cooking competition tagged, “LG Life Tastes Good Championship” in Nigeria.
The cooking competition which made its debut in Nigeria, is a unique and international cooking competition which affords amateur chefs the opportunity to showcase their cooking skills on national, regional and global levels by adding innovation to the everyday affair of preparing delicious and nutritious meals.
The competition which has been ongoing for several years, this year was themed “World on Your Table” which was targeted at the use of LG’s cooking appliances in preparing delicious meals. Participants at this year’s competition focused on cooking a three-course meal using the LG SolarDOM Lightwave oven without compromising taste and nutrition.
In order to ensure a widespread participation in Nigeria, the LG Life Tastes Good Championship was carved into three major zones; Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. To enter for the competition consumers were to purchase any LG Grill or convection microwave oven, or a SolarDOM Lightwave Oven from any of the LG designated showrooms and major stores in these three cities which automatically qualify them for the national competition. Contestants could enter either as individuals or a team of two people.
The winner in the individual category, Ms Vivian Ibrahim Ejura and the winners in the team category Ms Okolo Obiageli and Ms Ehana Miriam were rewarded with fantastic home appliances, cash prizes of N100, 000 each as well as all expense paid trips to represent Nigeria at the Regional competition in Dubai.
Michael Ha, the Marketing director, Home Appliance Division LG Electronics West Africa Operations, said the championship was initiated in Nigeria to encourage acquisition of world-class cooking skills and to support amateur cooks with the opportunity to showcase their abilities on a global platform whilst promoting the cultural heritage of Nigeria in terms of food.
Ha said “this competition was used as a platform to promote the basic and fundamental ideals of family which parents, mothers especially, should pass on to their children”. According to Ha, “Cooking is an essential art which should be encouraged and imbibed by all and we at LG Electronics, are committed to ensuring that the right cooking appliances that ease stress and make cooking time an enjoyable and delightful experience, are made available to consumers”.
Mohammed Fouani, managing director, Fouani Nigeria Limited explained that the competition will be at three levels; the national, regional and global levels. The winners in the national level of the competition will be rewarded with all expense paid trips to Dubai to represent the country at the regional competition in September where they stand the chance to proceed to the global and final stage of the competition in Seoul, Korea where the grand winner emerges.
Ha also disclosed at the press briefing that a panel of judges comprising of renowned personalities from the food industry were carefully selected to ensure credibility and professionalism in the selection of the best recipe. “We have confidence in their professionalism and trust their judgement completely on this competition”, Ha concluded.
