The International Data Corporation (IDC) has rated Zinox Computers as the market leader with a market share of 27.1% in a dwindling PC Market.
HP followed closely with 26.1, DELL 20.2%, and Samsung 12.7%. Other international brands that got a mention in the report are ACER, Toshiba, LG Electronics, and Lenovo.
The Zinox market share dropped by about 56% compared with her performance in the same period of the previous year. Leading industry players say that would have been because of the strategic volume of 80,000 units delivered by Zinox into the Nigerian market for the INEC Registration combined with major Federal Ministry of Education projects in the same period.
According to Bode Iseyinmi, a leading ICT specialist, that volume delivered by Zinox in such a short period for INEC and other projects could have earned Zinox No.1 globally as that volume is unmatched anywhere.
“I think that company has consistently proven that something good can come out of this country. I sincerely feel they should be encouraged by the Federal government to equip major institutions including our analogue Educational institutions”.
From the IDC records, Zinox and HP have consistently shared the market leadership in the last five years and this a good report for a local but global brand.
Sunday Mukoro, managing director Zinox said we are in a tough market where global demand for PCs went down as much a 7% last year due to global challenges as many corporate persons were struggling to survive. It is true that most of our local partners remained loyal like Total Plc, NCC, USPF just to mention a few but the launch of Zinox Whizkid for Primary and secondary school kids, and the Zinox Legacy helped to uplift our figures.  Also the successful launch of the Zinox Flagship that runs on Intel Core i7 and which was received positively helped drive our figures.
While assuring continued leadership, Mukoro said what a lot of people are not aware of is that Zinox is not just a PC manufacturing company. “We are a full ICT solutions company deploying our products with other third parties with end to end solution products like Solar equipment, VSAT etc to  achieve end to end solutions working with first rate Engineers  located nationwide to train Clients’ staff and support these equipment. “If you refer to the road map laid out by the founder, Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, it is clear that his ambition was to prove that Nigerians can do it, that the destination was clear in that roadmap and we are just interpreting and implementing it. With all the challenges faced in this country, we thank God for his favors.”
