Telecoms operators are jostling to win souls of their subscribers with huge promotions, but Consumer Protection Council (CPC) has expressed some reservations over some of the offers, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek can report.

From MTN to Etisalat to Airtel, big offers are on the table as the operators attempt to unlock the wallets of subscribers.

MTN came out with the ‘Ultimate Wonder’ promo on August 17 where it promises the winner an Aeroplane, clearly the mother of all promos.

Customers are expected to win weekly cash prizes while the ultimate winner would go home with a Cessna 182TAeroplane in a grand prize presentation in October.

Etisalat Nigeria also launched "Double Your recharge” and as the name suggested, subscribers get double for their recharges.

Airtel on its part introduced the five times bigger offer which gives subscribers five times more of their daily usage of airtime.

But the Consumer Protection Council said it was concerned about the promos and that it would ask for clarifications from the telcos.
