Globacom has set up a state-of-the-art Internet Data Centre in Lagos just as it announced plans to expand the existing data management platform by building another world-class facility that will be Nigeria’s Largest Iconic Data Center providing Tier 3 and Tier 4 enterprise data services in Abuja.

The new Internet Data centre, which is already in operation, offers premium data-based services including co-location services, disaster recovery and dedicated hosting to interested clients all over Nigeria.

Speaking on the project in Lagos, Globacom’s Chief Technical Officer (Information Systems), Mr. Cesar Camara, said that various Nigerian organizations which currently host their websites and servers in the United Kingdom, United States of America and other countries due to unpredictable power supply, insecurity and other challenges now have a viable local alternative in the Globacom Internet Data Centre.

“I am glad to inform you that Globacom has become one of the top players in the Managed Services Industry across Nigeria & West Africa. We are leveraging on our existing telecoms infrastructure, reliable power supply network, experienced manpower and years of experience garnered in building state-of-the-art technologies for our existing voice and data telephony services,” Camara told journalists who were on tour of the facility.

Data Centres, including the forthcoming Tier 3 and Tier 4 categories, which provide the highest level of failure-proof, redundant, secure and safe environment, fault tolerance, compartmentalization and continuous cooling, are highly valued by most organizations because all mission-critical and real-time applications today depend on server uptime.

“This makes our high capacity Data Centre highly sought after by all categories of businesses  including Small and Medium Scale Enterprises SMEs, Financial Institutions, Oil and Gas, Educationists, Hospitals and telecoms service providers,” he said.

He explained that, "Glo’s data centre has achieved 99.977% uptime for all our servers and systems because they are housed in a safe, fireproof and secure environment built to international standards with 24- hour power supply, internet connectivity, data backup capacity and redundancy for all equipment.
