IT News Africa Publisher joins AfricaCom Awards panel

Abby Wakama, publisher & executive editor of Africa’s technology news leader ITNewsAfrica.com will form part of the judges line-up for the 6th Annual AfricaCom Awards, scheduled for 13 November 13  in Cape Town.

AfricaCom is Africa’s largest annual communications Congress and Exhibition and covers strategic issues that affect companies operating within the continent’s digital market.

It features 7 co-located events including Digital Music Africa, Mobile Money Africa, LTE Africa, AfricaCast, AfricaApps, Cloud and Big Data, all of which offer a forum for leading keynote speakers representing the industry to engage with delegates.

The full schedule includes pre-event workshops, specialist conference streams, an African Industry Outlook and keynote presentations.

The Awards focus on a number of different categories, including (new for 2013)- Best Connectivity Solution for Africa.

Companies shortlisted for awards include SEACOM, MTN, Orange, Deloitte, Ericsson, Econet, and Ogilvy amongst others. Visit the awards page for the full list.

Wakama is pleased to be invited to contribute to the efforts of a nine-member strong panel of judges.

In his senior leadership role at ITNewsAfrica, Wakama consults regularly with corporations in the ICT sector on digital strategy and doing business in Africa. He has been a guest expert on several radio and TV shows (CNBC, BBC, SABC International amongst others) focusing on ICT.

Prior to his current position, he was Web Director of African News Dimension, a digital news agency based in Johannesburg.
