Nokia Launches First Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia 630

Nokia has unveiled new Lumia 630, first smartphone to run Windows Phone 8.1.

Windows 8.1 is a new version of the operating system that Microsoft, owners of Nokia, hopes will finally allow it to compete on an even footing with Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS.

Speaking at the launching of the phone in Lagos, Nick Imudia, country manager, Nokia, said, launching the new software on the Lumia 630 is intended to build on its success at the lower end of the market, which helped establish Windows Phone as the fastest growing platform.

The 4.5” screen and quadcore processor will power the same “features and award-winning design and experiences found on high -end Lumia smartphones,” he said.

He added that Nokia Lumia 630 offers great apps and high end technology.

"This is a great product for our customers, providing a premium experience at an affordable price point. In our opinion, this is the best smartphone in its price range on the market today.”

On his part, Olumide Balogun, said that product manager, Nokia West and Central Africa, said the with the latest Windows Phone 8.1 and QuadCore processor, new Nokia Lumia 630 comes alive with new posts, events, chats and photos on a a stunning 4.5" display.

"Lumia 630 offers users several essentialities and flexibilities. It enables you see every detail on 4.5" display with ClearBlack technology. You can enjoy it all from any angle, even in bright sunlight. So, you do not have to shield the screen or squint your eyes," he added.

However, the device comes with real Microsoft Office built in, including the latest version of Word, Excel and PowerPoint among other features.
