Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, launched new series of Server & Storage products in Lagos.
The products and solutions in these fields cover storage area network (SAN), solid state storage system, network attached storage (NAS), virtual intelligent storage (VIS), and cloud storage. Huawei storage product line was founded in 2007.
These products and solutions are widely applied in areas such as governments, public utility, transportation, finance, ISP & media assets, and energy.
Huawei storage product line has become an important part of Huawei cloud computing strategy and enterprise solutions.
Pang Jimin, managing director, Huawei Nigeria, said the Company prides itself as a global organization, not focused on China alone and has feels at home in Nigeria.
He said, about 12 years ago, Huawei was welcomed by the Nigeria while it was struggling to make its imprint on the African Continent.
Jimin said, “Huawei is playing a leading role in global server and storage market. According to the latest statistics from Gartner report, Huawei storage ranked number one in china shipments and number one Global Market Growth Rate for six quarters around 66%. Huawei storage products serve more than 2000 customers globally.
“We are not focusing on China alone. That is why we see ourselves as a global Company. In Nigeria, we will continue to be partners to the public and private institutions like the telcos, banks and others.
He added that Huawei has developed server products more than ten years as the world leading carrier device provider.
According to Gartner report, Huawei server ranked number four in the global shipments and number one in china in 2013. And Huawei is the only vendor that achieved server market share growth in seven consecutive quarters.
The newly launched All-SSD storage system OceanStor Dorado series consists of two models of product Dorado 2100 and Dorado 5100.
Mr. Yemi Joseph, enterprise solutions manager for the Company, described the Huawei OceanStor Dorado2100 as a SAN-based solid state storage product designed for the enterprise-level high-performance storage market.
The Dorado2100 uses full-SSD architecture and employs advanced cache management and I/O scheduling mechanisms.
It offers an ideal choice for various storage scenarios that are performance-demanding such as database, VDI, and high-performance computing.
“The Dorado2100 delivers a superb performance of up to 600,000 IOPS, which is equivalent to the performance of a traditional disk array consisting of 1,500 15K rpm SAS disks. And the access latency is as low as 500μs, which is only 5% of that with traditional disk arrays.
“The Dorado 2100 with the active-active dual controllers implements redundancy and load balancing, ensuring high service reliability. And redundant power supplies, fans, controllers, interface modules, SSDs, and BBUs eliminate single points of failure while supporting hot-swap and online I/O expansion.
“With no mechanical disk design, compared with traditional disk arrays, the Dorado2100 G2 saves 95% of cabinet footprint but has the same performance, dramatically reducing the cabinet purchasing cost. And the typical 580 W system power consumption of Dorado system can saves power up to 90% compared with performance-equivalent traditional disk arrays”.
Joseph added that the newly launched Converged Infrastructure FusionCube is designed based on an open architecture; FusionCube integrates blade servers, distributed storage devices, and switches into its 12 U chassis. Distributed storage, a virtualization platform, and cloud management software are also factory installed on the FusionCubesub rack.
It enables one-stop delivery, pre-installation, resource scheduling on demand, and linear resource expansion. It also improves performance for various application scenarios.
FusionCube has made performance optimizations for various enterprise application scenarios. Using its integrated hardware architecture, high throughput of distributed storage, high input/output operations per second (IOPS), intelligent network interface cards (iNICs), and solid-state drives (SSDs), FusionCube significantly outperforms its competitors in the industry, among other features.
Through its dedication to customer-centric innovation and strong partnerships, Huawei remains a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider.
