Okere, Over 35 Others Confirmed Speakers for #NCSEnugu2014

Mr. Austin Okere, founder and chief executive officer, Computer Warehouse Group (CWG)  and close to 40 guest speakers have lined up for this year's Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) national conference holding in Enugu next week.

Okere is scheduled to speak on “Social Impact on Information Technology”.

Juliet Ehimuan, country mananger, Google Nigeria will also lead discussions during 'social media master class' session as part of programmes lined up for the conference.

Professor David Adewumi, NCS president, while speaking on the conference in Lagos, said that NCS as the umbrella body of all IT professionals and organizations in Nigeria, with more than 17,000 members and major interest groups (ISPON, ITAN, ISPAN, NiWIIT and ITSSP), the conference topics were chosen to address critical areas in the industry and Nigerian Society at large.

He said, "High profile dignitaries expected to  grace the event are Mrs. Omobola Johnson, minister of Communication Technology who is the Keynote Speaker, ECOWAS Vice President Dr. Toga Gayewea Mcintosh, DG NITDA, Mr Peter Olu Jack, NCC Executive Vice Chairman Mr Eugene Juwa, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria Nsukka and Barrister Sullivan Chime Governor, Enugu State  our Chief Host". 

Meanwhile, Mr. Moses Braimah, chairman conference Committee of the Society added that, also on the agenda will be Social Media Master class, Mobile Application Technology in Nigeria: A Case Study for Innovation & Transformation, IT Applications in the Different Sector of the Economy, and Application of knowledge Technologies and Engineering in National Development.

As we expect close to 40 guest speakers, the conference comprises plenary, parallel and technical sessions, networking meetings, panel discussions and special focus forums.

"Interactive engagement will be used to facilitate learning and networking – critical is the promotion of innovation and global best practices in addressing the national priorities of Knowledge based Economy," he said.

Other speakers are: Ms. Funke Opeke, managing director, MainOne Ltd, who Will speak on  Broadband Access for All: Issues and Strategies. She is founder and CEO of Main One LTD.

Mr. Niyi Yusuf, managing director of Accenture Nigeria, will speak on Application of Knowledge Technologies and Engineering in National Development.

Also, Dick Venema, a resourceful, versatile and visionary Chief Executive Officer of Venema Advies Nigeria Limited and a Non-Executive Director of West Africa Data Center Limited, will speak on : Knowledge-Based Economy: Data Centre Delivery and Sustainability.

Funmilola Odunmuboni, manager in Deloitte's Cyber Risk Services unit of Akintola Williams Deloitte, will speak on Security Issues in a Knowledge-Based Economy: Challenges & Opportunities.

Mr. Michael Olajide, executive director, Sidmach Technologies Limited will speak on  Applications of Information Technology and Local Content Development in the Economy: Issues & Challenges, while Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu – managing director, Infographics Nigeria will speak on: “E-government Automation Processes: Challenges and Benefits”.

NCS has also planned that notable Nigerians who have excelled in their various endeavours will be honoured with special award of excellence at the banquet dinner of the Conference.

Among the awardees is Mr Peter Obi, immediate past governor of Anambra State for his outstanding IT implementation policy.

NCS will also confer Honorary Fellowship on Dr. Toga Gayewea Mcintosh Vice President of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
