ATCON, AfriNIC to Host International Workshop on IPV6

Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), in partnership with Africa Network Information Center (AfriNIC), is organising a three day International Workshop on IPv6.

The workshop holds in Lagos from August 12 to 14, 2014.

Ajibola Olude, executive secretary of the Association told Nigeria CommunicationsWeek thatp articipations at the workshop are targeted to Network Engineers in the African Telecoms industry including the academics.

He said that resource persons for the workshop are international experts coming from outside Nigeria.

According to Olude, the workshop is expected to provide impetus for Nigerian Network operators to migrate from IPV4 to IPV6 with its attendant advantages.

"The workshop will also provide qualitative training for those engineers that managed our networks which would help, as we tackle the problem of quality of service in the telecommunication industry.

"It will provide Nigerian Network Engineers with the required knowledge to compete favourably with their counterpart in the global market.

"We expect it to enhance, as well upgrade, the performance of our Network Engineers on network management with the ultimate goal of ensuring the sustainable growth of the Nigerian Telecom Industry".

The Executive Secretary added that the platform will boost the productivity level of Nigeria's network engineers.
