Pan-Atlantic University, one of Nigeria’s foremost and most respected higher educational institutions, has selected Layer3 to build a next generation campus network that will deliver a world-class learning experience for students, researchers and staff.
The deployment will be based on Juniper Networks core routers, switching, security and wireless platform which are designed to deliver industry-leading scale and performance, high reliability and operational efficiency for the most demanding network environments.
Pan-Atlantic University has a well-earned reputation, locally and internationally, as an institution that provides world class education.
Curriculum in the University is developed in close collaboration with industry leaders as well as professional bodies.
Pan-Atlantic University contributes to national development through the provision of academic programmes that are relevant to the needs of the country.
With its impressive and diverse curriculum, the University is eyeing the future with the establishment of a robust network that readily embraces high resolution video for learning in real-time, and the support of bandwidth-intensive applications across multiple campus facilities, labs and auditoriums.
"The significant investment that we are making in our next-generation campus network will transform the way we teach, learn and deliver education at the University. From an IT perspective, it also means that we will spend less time running the network, and more time delivering innovative solutions to our staff and students, so that they are empowered to work their way,” said Nnamdi Nwokoye, director ICT of Pan-Atlantic University
After a competitive and rigorous tender process, the University selected Layer3 and Juniper Networks, based on their experience and excellence in delivering similar projects.
The architecture allows for an easy upgrade from 10GbE to 40GbE or 100GbE connections at a later date. The network is designed to meet massive bandwidth demands, while maximizing return on investment (ROI) with capabilities for easy transitioning to software defined networking in the near future.
Vivian Atureta, Layer3’s business development manager, commented, “Through our relationship with Pan-Atlantic University and the implementation of this next-generation network, the University will become a global showcase and a center of excellence for the digital transformation of higher education. Pan-Atlantic University has taken a long-term approach to building a network infrastructure, and deploying a solution that offers speed, flexibility and resilience while also laying the foundation for future evolution. This will enable it to take advantage of emerging technologies such as Software-Defined Networking, allowing it to meet and exceed user demands now and for many years to come.”
