The E-Payment Providers Association of Nigeria (E-PPAN) is collaborating with Financial System Security 2020 (FSS 2020) to host Africa’s biggest e-Government Summit on the 7th -8th of July 2015 in the Federal capital Territory Abuja.
According to the E-PPAN, in a press statement, the partnership was necessitated to foster collaboration among stakeholders and join efforts to further push the implementation of e-payment and e-services to the public sector and to create awareness on various achievements of FSS 2020 and celebrate other big strides in the private and public sector in the area of ICT.
The partnership will allow the summit enjoy a robust and rich program schedule which will cover a variety of issues attracting high level of participation from the private sector, government and international audience.
Concurrent sector specific workshop sessions will be held to address issues such as:
-How micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) can be used for employment generation using ICT platforms.
-The use of electronic payment channels for the growth enhancement scheme in the Agricultural sector.
-Payment system in respect of the cashless Nigeria initiative and the PSV 2020.
Other areas that will receive maximum attention include Pension, Insurance, Mortgage and the interconnection of these sectors with ICT to drive a generation of e-services in the public sector.
Mrs. Onajite Regha, executive secretary and chief executive officer, E-PPAN said that the summit will be centered on improving efficiency in government service delivery, and moving away from a ‘silo approach’ to greater collaboration between the private and public sector for sustainable development and economic growth.
The Financial System Strategy (FSS 2020) is an initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria aimed at developing a coherent and internally consistent blueprint to develop Nigeria’s financial system to help achieve its vision to become a major international financial centre and one of the top 20 largest economies in the world by the year 2020.
