Prof. Attahiru Jega, the immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has warned federal government that any attempt to subject INEC to the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) will amount to disaster to the nation’s electoral process.
Jega who spoke at the 2015 e-Nigeria Governance Forum in Abuja, said his experience at the Commission showed that the effectiveness of electoral processes is conditional on availability of financial resources to deliver efficient services consistent with international minimum benchmarks and global best practices.
Jega, gave the advice while delivering a keynote address at the e-Nigeria 2015 Conference, organized by National Information Technology Development Agency NITDA in Abuja.
Jega also called for consolidation and expansion of the scope of the use of technology in future elections in the country.
