The night was magical at the Emerald Event Centre, Uyo when the next generation network, Globacom, stormed the city with the block buster concert, Slide ‘n’ Bounce, on Thursday.
The event had chart-topping musicians MI, Korede Bello, Sammie Okposo, PSquare and disc Jockey Jimmy Jatt, on its train and Uyo city simply went gaga with the artistes on stage.
The venue was filled to the brim as Globacom subscribers trooped outenthusiastically to relish and share the fun.
The Uyo Slide ‘n’ Bounce began with select, up and coming acts from Akwa Ibom State showing what they could do in singing and dance. The raw talents pleasantly surprised the audience. Comedian Okon Lagos also made a surprise appearance on stage to the delight of fans.
The main show of the evening kicked off with Nigeria's foremost D.J., Jimmy Jatt, who got the crowd rocking with a fusion of old and new sounds from his juke box.
Next was Sammie Okposo who brought a gospel twist to the stage and the audience splurged on the ace gospel artiste’s medley of vernacular and English songs. At this point, the audience refused to sit. Sammie even got some members of the audience to participate in a singing and dancing talent hunt. The audience was really entertained as those who participated in the contest did remarkably well.
The crowd gave a standing ovation to Korede Bello as the young star hopped on stage. He took the entertainment decibel to new levels as he sang his popular “ God win” song and other popular tunes.
Then came the turn of African Rapper Number One, M.I. At this juncture, the audience stood on their chairs. M.I was simply at his best as he interacted with the fans who also sang along with him, displaying rich knowledge of his compositions.
M.I. stepped off stage when the audience wanted more, but the fans got more than what they bargained for when PSquare came on stage instead.
PSquare held the audience spellbound for about two hours, and the people just soaked in every moment of their performance. Peter Okoye’s dance steps were unusually magical during the night while Paul's powerful vocal strength enthralled the fans.
At the end of the show, Glo subscribers in Uyo requested that the company should return with another concert.
