Africonomie has announced the intention to host 3rd Africa Alternative Investment Intensive (AAII), the most comprehensive forum bringing together U.S - Africa capital owners, allocators and fund managers, in September this year.

Themed "Navigating New Paths to Growth", the forum brings together a carefully selected audience of around 70 investment funds, managers and practitioners investing (or considering allocating) in Africa.  Discussions and activities during the forum will focus around real assets (real estates, infrastructure and Agribusiness) private debt and private equity strategies.

The 3rd AAII provides a unique opportunity for insightful private meetings, open conversations, roundtable discussions and keynotes, according to a statement by Peace Natachy.

“This unique forum coincides with the UN General Assembly High-Level Week, and proactively shifts away from usual talkshow, by addressing the principal blocks to institutions with strong appetite to learn and build alternative investment portfolios. Specifically – lack of in-house experience which prevents Boards of Directors, Trustees and Investment Committees from being able safely to allow their investment teams to make commitments; absence of available pooled investment vehicles, but rather a relatively limited range of funds and vehicles which don’t offer the diversification of risk which is required”.

The upcoming Africonomie Forums will allow for institutional investor only breakfast roundtable on private equity (PE) investment intensive; focus on private equity strategies, terms & manager selection- market conditions, asset classes, and the unpredictability of macroeconomic influences are all things that pension funds must consider when trying maximizing return on investments. A fund manager can be a source of (positive or negative) investment return—one that investors must take into consideration when allocating assets.

“We examine the challenges of conducting due diligence and constructing a well-diversified PE portfolio, and discuss a typical due diligence process”.

Specific attention will be paid to the importance of private equity manager selection; the challenges of private equity manager due diligence; private equity portfolio construction, and due diligence process and manager selection, asset allocation and investment policy statement, among others.
