Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr. (GCON), Billionaire and Chairman, Globacom Limited has been inducted as a Platinum member of the Telecoms Hall of Fame.

Dr. Adenuga was honoured for his revolutionary contributions to the industry in the realm of Telecoms Development while Globacom Limited was awarded the Telecoms Mobile Operator of the year by the Nigerian Telecoms Awards 2016. 

Logica Communications Limited, organisers of the award presented the honours to the recipients at Globacom’s elaborate customer service centre on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Receiving the trophy on behalf of Dr. Adenuga, Globacom’s Executive Director, Special Projects, Mr. Mike  Jituboh thanked the organisers for the honour, adding that Dr. Adenuga would continue to make life changing investments in Nigeria. “His philosophy is that if we do not invest in our country, nobody will do it for us,” Jituboh stated.

He said that Globacom, a game changer in the industry, will remain committed to its vision of building the best and biggest network wherever it operates.

Globacom’s trophy for the Mobile Telecoms Operator of the Year was received by Mr. Folu Aderibigbe, Commercial Coordinator, Business Enterprise.

Globacom was recognised for its pioneering roles and heavy investment in telecommunications infrastructure in Nigeria. The company’s societal relevance through its various people-oriented programs and activities were also taken into consideration in picking Glo over its competition.

Reading Dr. Adenuga’s citation, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, executive chairman of Logica Communications said that the multi-billionaire investor was chosen for his unparalleled role in the Nigerian telecoms revolution and for being an African icon in the business of telecommunications in Africa.

Speaking while presenting the awards, Ajiboye explained that the award jury was led by a professor of ICT, Dr. Simon Olawale Dean Faculty of ICT, Osun State University, and that the awards were solely made on merit.

Ajiboye explained that Globacom was picked  from three mobile telecoms networks , who  were nominated for the Mobile Telecom Operator of the Year Award, not only for the acceptance of its products and brand, but also for their  reliability and affordability.  Throwing more light, he said that out of 350 Votes, Globacom scored 297 while the two competitors shared the rest of the votes.
