David Alozie, convener of Disruptive Africa Expo/Master Class, has said that owing to proliferation of disruptive technologies and innovations such as Internet-of-Things, BigData, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and 3D Printing, Nigeria will be hit by a technology revolution in the next four years.
He stated this at the second edition of the Disruptive Africa Expo 2016 held in Lagos recently. The Disruptive Africa Expo is an annual programme organized by Wiretooth Technologies and aimed at preparing African Government and businesses for the technology revolution and digital disruption that is already reshaping value chains of economies all over the world.
This year’s event was aimed at helping Businesses and Government ignite discussions around sustainability in technology disruption era through the application of disruptive technologies like IoT, BigData, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and 3D printing for development.
David Alozie highlighted the prospects of digital disruption in today’s economy and how disruptive technologies will revolutionalize how we live our lives as well as doing basic day to day activities.
He added that Disruptive Technologies will help companies cut cost, increase efficiency and maximize profit, noting that startups and SMEs could pull some kind of business-operational weight like larger organizations and compete with them head-on while spending incredibly little, if they leverage on recent Disruptive Technologies.
Michael Ipinyomi, a Robotics Engineer, Product Developer and Founder of Zoom Robotics, who spoke on the prospects of Robotics in Africa, and how it can help move the economy and the society forward, cited examples of how robots can be used to fight crime and terrorism.
Chukueku Ivan Chukueku, an expert in broadcasting with DigiAfrik, explained how Disruptive Technologies used in modern television broadcasting could help make broadcasting both efficient and cheap.
