NCS Int’l Conference ’17: ‘Early Bird’ Registration Door Closes

Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has closed the ‘early bird’ registration window for participation at the 13th International Conference holding net month in Abuja, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek can report.

The Conference centres on leveraging IT to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda adopted by world leaders at the United Nations summit in September 2015 and came into force on 1 January, 2016.

Information Technology enabled innovation is integral to incorporating sustainability into global development, the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) emphasizes.

The 13th International Conference will provide a unique opportunity to bring together stakeholders from government, industry, academia, the United Nations, multilateral agencies, international organizations, youth groups and civil society to share knowledge and experiences towards leveraging IT Innovation to achieve more sustainable and inclusive societies.

To this end, participants are encouraged to explore the remaining two windows: Mid-Bird and Late Bird as enlisted on the site-http://www.ncs.org.ng/conference2017/#more-3928.

Confirming the development to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, Mr. Jide Awe, chairman, Conferences and Events at NCS, said that whilst early registrants paid lesser fees, the mid-bird and late registrants are to pay additional fees respectively. However, the NACOSS/NYSC members’ registration fees remain unchanged.

He said, “Although, there are provisions for registrations at the conference venue, but is it always better to register early so as to avoid awkward arrangements.

“During the Conference, there shall be an induction of newly registered professionals and issuance of membership certificate. Accreditation of inductees will commence on Wednesday 19th July, 2017 at the same venue”.

On international participants, Mr. Awe said that arrangements are in top gears towards confirming, especially speakers from abroad.

“The 13th International Conference provides opportunities for corporate organizations to showcase their products and services during the Conference by placement of advertisement in the event brochure or exhibition”, he added.

He reiterated that actionable initiatives and solutions will be developed through collaborative dialogue, keynotes, presentations, demonstrations and panels during the Conference.

The sub-themes include: Poverty Eradication, Food Security and Digital Inclusion; eHealth, mHealth and Innovation – Sustainable Healthcare for All; Digital Economies: Capacity Building, Startups and Youth Innovation; Sustainable Infrastructure for Innovation, Research and Development; Closing the Digital Gender Gap; Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change – The IT Innovation Imperative; Smart Cities, IT Parks and Digital Nations; E-Government, Digital Development and E-Readiness; Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection and Digital Privacy; Education for All through IT Innovation; Disruptive Technologies for Sustainability: Mobility, IoT, Big Data and Cloud; Agricultural Systems; Robotics and Transport and Traffic Technology.

Also, Mr. Iyiola Ayoola, NCS’ executive secretary confirmed to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek of a notification to all members that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Society will take place at Chida International Hotel, Abuja on Thursday July 20.

He listed election of National Executive Council as top on the agenda during the AGM.

The NCS Electoral Committee chaired by Dr. Chris C. Nwannenna, has also released the election time for the elections.
