MTN Nigeria won five awards at the 7th Africa Procurement & Supply Chain Awards (APSCHA) 2025, demonstrating the telecommunications company's operational excellence across Africa's business landscape.
The company's wins at the ceremony, held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos on July 4, 2025, included Digital Supply Chain Innovation of the Year, Excellence in Strategic Sourcing, Sustainability and Local Content Champion of the Year, and Procurement & Supply Chain Team of the Year. Adeola Oduntan, General Manager of MTN Nigeria was also recognised as the Strategic Supply Chain Leader of the Year.
This recognition comes as MTN Nigeria continues to strengthen its market position, serving 84.1 million subscribers with 50.3 million active data users as of March 2025. The company's Q1 2025 results showed service revenue growth of 40.5% to N1.0 trillion, demonstrating the direct impact of effective supply chain management on business performance.
According to Akin Naphtal, Group CEO of InstinctWave, the ceremony highlighted how procurement and supply chain functions have evolved beyond traditional support roles. "Procurement and supply chain management is no longer a back-office function. It is central to nation-building, enterprise growth and sustainable development," he said.
The ceremony recognised excellence across multiple sectors, with winners including the Nigeria Communications Commission for Public Sector Procurement Team of the Year and Ghana's Volta River Authority, which secured the Silver award in the same category.
APSCHA continues to serve as a platform for recognising procurement and supply chain professionals' contributions to organisational performance and African development across the continent's business landscape.
