GSM@25: IHS Nigeria Throws Its Weight Behind Major eWorldForum and Book Launch

IHS Nigeria, a digital infrastructure provider, has joined other industry stakeholders in supporting the forthcoming eWorldForum and Book Launch scheduled for Sept. 24 in Lagos.

The event, themed “Celebrating GSM @ 25,” will hold at the Oriental Hotel and bring together telecommunications and technology executives, policymakers, professionals and other stakeholders.

The organisers said the event would commemorate 25 years of GSM in Nigeria and examine its impact on the country’s digital transformation.

They said the growing support from industry players underscored the significance of the eWorldForum as a platform for recognising individuals, organisations and innovations that had contributed to the development of Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.

IHS Nigeria has played a major role in the country’s telecommunications infrastructure ecosystem by providing infrastructure supporting mobile connectivity and the growth of digital services.

The company’s support adds to the list of industry stakeholders associated with the event, including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN) and Digital Realty.

Dr Ernest Ndukwe, former Executive Vice-Chairman of the NCC and Chairman of MTN Nigeria, is also among the prominent industry figures associated with the event.

The organisers said the eWorldForum and Book Launch would provide stakeholders with an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of GSM in Nigeria and its impact on communication, commerce and society.

They said the gathering would also examine the opportunities and challenges that could shape the country’s digital future.

The book to be unveiled at the event would document perspectives, experiences and milestones from Nigeria’s telecommunications journey.

According to the organisers, the publication is expected to serve as a reference for industry professionals, researchers, policymakers and future generations.

They said the event would not only celebrate the achievements of the telecommunications industry over the past 25 years but also provide an opportunity to consider the next phase of Nigeria’s digital transformation.

The organisers said expectations were building ahead of the Sept. 24 event, which was expected to attract stakeholders from Nigeria’s technology and telecommunications sectors.
