Academix.ng, Africa’s fastest growing digital library, has picked up the Best eLearning Start-up Award at the eNigeria 2017 Conference organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in Abuja.

The award was one of five given to start-up companies that have excelled in contributing to e-Government in Nigeria through the promotion of local content. Speaking at the award ceremony, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the director general of NITDA, commended the ingenuity of the companies and pledged the support of NITDA for technology companies involved in growing local content.

The award was received on behalf of the company by its Founder/CEO Engr. Iso Bassey who expressed his delight at the recognition given to Academix for its work in digitizing and curating Africa focused research.

According to Bassey “This award is a fitting tribute to the hard work our team has put into making Africa focused research more easily accessible online”.

While speaking at the conference, Bassey highlighted the social and economic benefits of making research more accessible and used the opportunity to call on stakeholders in government and academia to partner with www.academix.ng to help accelerate the growth of this initiative.

The eNigeria conference which held from 7th – 9th November, 2017 brought together IT experts, solution providers and major stakeholders from both within and outside Nigeria to brainstorm on current and relevant IT issues across the globe with major aim of leveraging on them for sustainable socio economic development of Nigeria. The theme of the conference was; “Fostering Digital Economy through Local Content Development and Effective Regulations”.

The conference was declared open by His Excellency, President Mohammadu Buhari, President and Commander -in- Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
