Acrimony, Hailey Baldwin, NYSC portal & World Cup 2018 trend on Google Search Nigeria

Acrimony a film produced by Tyler Perry has topped Google search this week, according to Google official.

Mr Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Anglophone West Africa, made the disclosure on Wednesday in Lagos.

He stated that “Acrimony is an intriguing psychological thriller which tells the story of a faithful black woman who feels enraged after being betrayed by her husband.

“The film has attracted mixed reactions among Nigerians and is now trending on social media.

“Taking to their Twitter handles, Nigerians voiced their views about the thriller using the hashtag #Acrimony, making ‘Acrimony’ a top trending term”.

The Google manager also noted that earlier this week, Canadian singer, actor and songwriter, Justin Bieber shared a heartfelt message on social media confirming his engagement to American model and television personality, Hailey Baldwin.

He added that the couples had dated briefly in 2016 before splitting, but were spotted back together by fans in July, with engagement rumours circling shortly thereafter.

“In the wake of the announcement, fans have raced to Google in search of more information about Bieber’s fiancée,” Kola-Ogunlade said.

He also explained that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has opened its portal for the 2018 Batch B mobilisation exercise.

According to him, the agency issued a statement on Monday informing all prospective corps members, at home and abroad, to register for the mobilisation exercises between Tuesday, 10 July and 16 July, 2018.

He noted that NYSC members intending to partake in the ‘Batch B’ mobilisation exercises have since taken to Google to search for the necessary information needed for registration.

Kola-Ogunlade said that France 1- 0 victory against Belgium on Tuesday generated a lot of search results.

He said “France reached the World Cup final for a third time in its history, thanks to a header from Samuel Umtiti that gave the 1998 champions a 1- 0 victory against the Belgium team on Tuesday.

“France will play Croatia in Sunday’s final at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.”

He noted that football fans in Nigeria took to Google to search for results, recaps, and fixtures for the final matches.
