Dignity does not consist in possessing honours, but in deserving them.

This is a testament to the character and person of Dr. Mike Adenuga, the multibillionaire founder of Globacom limited, the proudly Nigerian telecom company doing extraordinary things.

No eulogy is enough to describe Adenuga who has rewritten every known business, sports and personal books in Nigeria and indeed Africa as a whole.

He has made good success of all his endeavours bringing with it good fortune, which makes many Nigerians rely on him for their daily breads.

A natural gentleman who has also elected to remain taciturn and sometimes almost invisible, Adenuga epitomizes the Nigerian dream.

The manifestation of the value on this icon is the conferment on him of one of Nigeria’s highest national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

The industrialist and major employer of labour truly deserves the honour because he is a man who sees opportunities where others fear to tread.

With hands in many pies and all of them profitable, Adenuga typifies a thoughtful, committed Nigerian whom is changing the world.

From his telecom business to his oil and gas business and to his involvement in the financial industry, Adenuga’s life is both an incredible journey and inspiration to Nigerians.

He has added value to the economy and to the lives of many Nigerians. He is a credible businessman.

Though born into wealth, the new GCON represents a few people in the world who manage to rise above the obstacles thrown at them with grace, toughness, and unbelievable courage, turning almost unimaginable adversity into incredible inspiration.

He is not a member of the ruling elite appropriating the nation’s resources and wealth to themselves at the expense of Nigerians who are struggling to make ends meet.

Adenuga is also one of the greatest philanthropists in the world running one of Africa’s largest charities quietly.

He has unconditional belief in humanity and quality of life.

Nigeria CommunicationsWeek congratulates him!
