Adewumi, NCS’ President Rolls Out 11 Point Agenda

Prof David Adewumi, the newly elected president, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has rolled out 11 point agenda for NCS under his leadership, promising to build a society that has a robust membership base, an articulate and highly proactive NEC, well informed members for strengthening professionalism in the Profession and Industry.

On July 26, 2013, Adewumi, was elected as the 12th national president of the Nigeria Computer Society succeeding Demola Aladekomo.

In his inaugural address at NCS secretariat, Adewumi appreciated both the past and incoming members of the national executive council (NEC) of NCS for their penchant interest in unleashing potentials in the industry through its (NCS) engagements.

He said: “I will like to begin by thanking the out gone 17th National Executive Council(NEC) led by the immediate Past President, Sir Demola Aladekomo for the work done within the space of two years.

“I am still using the same medium to congratulate my colleagues who won the last election into the current 18th National Executive Council and welcome those who are first time comers to NEC, and also welcome the experienced NEC members on board. We need their experience to work together as a team”.

“On his mission to NCS as the President of the 18th NEC, Adewumi said “it is simple,” and they tied: Membership Benefits. (a.) Provision of digital Newsletter to all registered members on   happenings in the IT industry in Nigeria and beyond. (b) Members will henceforth receive their membership certificates and other documentations through couriers’ services; Restructuring of NCS secretariat to meet the demand of members. (a.) The NCS secretariat will undergo restructuring to meet the growing needs of members. (b.) Members will henceforth receive prompt attention to request/inquires; Overhauling of NCS Records Management System; liaise with federal ministries to embarking on aggressive application of ICT tools in all government agencies and expansion of membership base of NCS by completing the establishment of NCS chapters in all states of the Federation.

“Others are With the support of the NCS NEC, We shall improve inter and intra Government relationships with NCS; To build on the current visibility of NCS in Nigeria in particular and the world in general; More productive working relationships with the international community; Maintain good working relationship with other professional groups within and outside the country; Strengthen NCS presence in Abuja and Create a Research and Development Think Tank that will proffer relevant ICT solution to National issues.

Professor Adewumi is currently a professor of Computer Science at Bells University of Technology, Ota and dean, College of Information and Communications Technology, Bells University of Technology, Ota.

He is a visiting Professor of Computer Science to many Universities in Nigeria
