Afribank Donates eTesting Centre to U.I
Afribank Nigeria Plc has provided Computer Based Testing (CBT) Centre, eTesting, for the University of Ibadan (U.I) community.
A statement from the bank said, the CBT is a private-public sector partnership innovation into the Nigerian Higher Education System, which Afribank provided in partnership with Electronic Test Company (eTC).
Nebolisa O. Arah, Group Managing Director of Afribank who was represented at the commissioning of the Center by Olaleye Olajuwon, general manager, e-Solutions Department, assured that the CBT would ease the rigours of examination/testing in educational institutions, professional and corporate organizations in Nigeria. “This is consistent with Afribank’s numerous involvements in raising the standard of education in the country,” Arah stressed.
Candidates at the CBT centre are enabled to access questions and provide answers electronically. The centres are fully equipped with modern desktop display units, soft keyboards, and pre designed sitting arrangements which ensures privacy of each candidate.
The U.I eTesting Centre is one of the several pilot centers’ the bank earmarked for roll-out. A centre had been launched earlier in the University of Ilorin. A replica will be opened in FUTA – Akure, University of Lagos, University of Maiduguri, Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho, Benue State University, Makurdi.
The project is a first in the Nigerian Higher Education System. Each CBT Centre is equipped with designs and facilities that can accommodate up to seven thousand candidates for examinations at the same time, one computer to one candidate, mobile computer units that can service 500 candidates for off site examinations, instant processing and publication of examinations results immediately after the examinations and a cozy and examination friendly environment.
During the launch of the CBT, Mrs. Omotayo Ikotun, Registrar, U.I, opined that the CBT Centre would usher into the Nigerian Educational System, a modern way of conducting examination as applicable in advanced countries. She also enthused that the CBT Centre would be used for Internal and the Post UME Examinations.
Some advantages of the CBT Centre include; eliminate incidence of loss of scripts, examination malpractice and provision of conducive examination environment.
Other benefits of the Centre are: global standardization of examination format, quick processing time for results.
