AIG Opens New Office in Yaba, Now in 26 Countries

Africa Internet Group (AIG), the leading internetgroup in Africa, has moved itsoffice located in Yaba area of Lagos State.

The three-stairs, smart office-building houses six of AIG ventures in Nigeria and estimated to occupy over 500 staff of the six ventures Easytaxi, Lamudi, Carmudi, Hellofood, Kaymu and Jovago, who are daily engaged in connecting buyers or merchants and buyers, while creating common grounds for e-commerce growth in the country.

Since inception in 2012, AIG has expanded to 26 countries and has created 71 companies in different verticals namely online retail, online marketplace, food ordering, car classifieds, real estate classifieds, taxi hailing, online travel agency and P2P lending marketplace.

In Nigeria, AIG’s network of companies include leading brands – Kaymu, a secure online marketplace where buyers and sellers meet to obtain the best deals for products; Easytaxi a mobile app that connects drivers and passengers and Hellofood, an online and mobile platform where people can order food for delivery from the most popular restaurants in the city.

Others are Lamudi, an online real estate marketplace; Carmudi, an online vehicle marketplace; Jovago an online hotel booking service and Jumia an online retail store.

According to the AIG, the choice of Yaba was based on its popularity in the Lagos metropolis, houses a cluster of banking, educational and technology institutions.

Yaba has grown to become Nigeria’s e-commerce hub attracting a nest of technology and start-up companies, earning it the name, Nigeria’s Silicon Valley.

Speaking to journalists during the official opening of the office, heads of the different startups unanimously noted that the move was one of AIG’s efforts to contribute to making Yaba the next technological hub in Africa by building tight links to boost the entrepreneurship drive in the area and securing strategic partnerships to grow the ecosystem.

The company which is backed by three global experts in e-commerce and African markets, Millicom, MTN Group, and Rocket Internet, has a huge commitment to driving entrepreneurship in Africa.
