In recognition and celebration of excellence, innovation, dedicated service and loyalty, leading telecommunications service provider, Airtel Nigeria, recently rolled out drums in honour of outstanding employees and long serving staff who have contributed immensely to the growth of the business.
The colourful award ceremony, which took place recently at different locations across the company’s four regions in Nigeria, provided an opportunity for management of the company to recognize excellent performance and also celebrate staff for their contributions to the organization.

Awards were given to the outstanding employees in different categories including: ‘CEO’s Excellence Award, ‘CEO’s Innovation Award,’ Long Service Award (10 years)’, ‘Long Service (5 years) and ‘Service with a Smile.’

Speaking shortly before the presentation of the awards, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, chief executive officer and managing director, Airtel Nigeria, said that “in the last 12 months, the company has won several awards for innovation, customer service, brand, best network, among others, and these honours could not have been possible without the collective performance of employees”.

He said everyone who has sacrificed and contributed to the company deserves to be appreciated. He also commended spouses of the employees for their support, sacrifices, encouragement and understanding.

He encouraged all to work as a team and not to relent in offering the best during their course of duty, saying employees should “always prepare to fight and fight to win in what we do.”

Four employees representing the respective regions emerged winners of the maiden CEO Excellence Award which was instituted last October. They are Abayomi Adesalu, key account manager, Lagos Region; Folayemi Balogun, manager: Talent Sourcing and Management, Oladipo Jolaosho, regional marketing manager (South) and Katuka Halilu, area business manager (North Region).

Forty employees were honoured with the Ten-year Long Service Award while another twenty nine received laurels for having stayed over five years in the organization.

Among those in attendance at the Airtel End of the Year Black Tie Award Night were: Deepak Srivastava, chief operating officer, Airtel Nigeria, Emeka Oparah, director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Jubril Saba, director, Human Resources, Ibirobo Adekola, director of Legal & Company Secretary, Inusa Bello, chief sales officer, and Bayo Osinowo, regional operations director, Lagos.
