Airtel Touching Lives to Re-Unite Man with Family

Airtel Nigeria, leading telecommunications services provider, has come to the aid of a 47 year-old physically challenged man, Gbenga Adesida, who despite being blind from birth and abandoned by his parents at age 10,struggled to makehis life meaningful, only to be confronted withseries of unending problems.

“Since my children left me, life has been very sad for me,” he narrated, also confessing that he contemplatedcommitting suicide at a time.

Despite his deplorable state, Adesida was not spared as armed robbers dealt him a terrible blow, carting away his keyboard and other technological aids. More so, he was evicted from his apartment.

Moved by Adesida’s situation, a GoodSamaritan, Mrs. Rose Ayanlege, offered him temporary accommodation around Agbado area of Ogun State and also nominatedhim for the Airtel Touching Lives programme.

There’s now light at the end of the tunnel for Adesida as Airtelthrough the TV programme, Touching Lives 2,has donateda two-bedroom apartment complete with electrical fittings and borehole for potable water to Mr. Adesida.

‎In his response, Adesida expressed his happiness to the company for helping in the efforts to re-unite his family.Similarly, Mrs. Ayanlege commended Airtel for making Adesida’s dream come true. She said life would have been meaningless for Adesida without help from Airtel, “but with this support I think he will go places,” she said.

Also in episode 3, Airtel revisited the story of the Galilee Foundation in Ibadan Oyo State. Airtel donated 10 bags of rice, 50 litres of vegetable oil, constructed a massive poultry and provided 500 birds for the foundation.

The Director of the foundation, Mr. Gregory Edeki-Eigbadon expressed appreciation to Airtel for aiding the survival of kids in the foundation and boosting the produce.

Last week in episode 2, viewers saw how the telco uplifted several women and children in a community in Osun State. Airtel, in the same episode, also gave lifeline to a man who battled an unknown, debilitating disease for several years.

Through the Touching Lives platform, Airtel has been promoting the spirit of giving, self-sacrifice and love among Nigerians.

The Season 2 of the programme was premiered recently in Abuja with prominent individuals, government functionaries, NGOs and well-meaning Nigerians in attendance.‎
