Mr. Demola Aladekomo, group managing director of Chams Plc, as the guest of honour, will deliver the Keynote Address at this year’s Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) Annual Lecture which holds tomorrow.
The CIBN Annual Lecture, designed to address topical contemporary issues in the Nigerian economy, is part of the institute’s contribution to national development.
Aladekomo who is widely recognized as a pioneer in Nigeria’s identity management system will be speaking on “Identity Management: A catalyst for the new economic and financial service transformation.”
The 2014 Lecture will also feature a roundtable to enable a thorough discussion on the Lecture.
The Lecture is expected to highlight the long term benefits of identity management and also outline the capability of the ongoing National ID and Banks’ Biometric Verification Number (BVN) projects to bring a large number of Nigerians out of the shadows and give Nigeria’s competitive edge a quantum leap.
It will also highlight the benefits of a robust identity management infrastructure to financial services, education, healthcare and agriculture sectors of the economy which can result in an improved internally generated revenue, cost-savings and fraud reduction.
Remarkably, Aladekomo-led Chams Plc is Nigeria’s leading player in the identity assurance space. Chams PLC has worked for and is currently engaged by governments, relevant agencies and private sector institutions to provide identity management products and services.
Chams is also working on two identity management projects of scale in the private and public sectors including the National ID and BVN projects.
The CIBN Annual Lecture has always attracted important personalities from all sectors of the economy including top government functionaries, top executives of banks and non-bank institutions, diplomatic missions, professional bodies and the academia.
Mr. Jibril Aku, managing director of Ecobank Nigeria Plc, will chair the event while the roundtable that will discuss the Keynote Address is comprised of distinguished panelists including Mr. Ade Sonubi, managing director, NIBSS; Mr. Niyi Yusuf, managing director, Accenture and Mr. Taiwo Ayedun, managing director, Credit Registry Services Limited.
