Amfi Network Trains Bayelsa Micro Credit Agency

The Bayelsa state government has engaged  the service of a U.K  based consultant company, Amfi Network to give orientation to the staff of the state Micro Credit Agency, on how to effectively mange microfinance scheme in the state.
Mr. Vershima Justin Tyoakaa, director Amfi Networks, said the two days capacity workshop was aimed at bringing prudent ideas that would give the officials ability to manage micro-credit facilities through step by step proofs.
He also said most countries in the world now are into micro-credit financing, in order to touch the lives of the rural people and bring development as well, adding that the workshop will teach them how to give small loans for micro business, agricultural aqua-culture and trading, which target the active poor.
Tyoakaa said countries like Bangladesh, India and Philippines were regard as the poorest in the world with over 76% percent of the population living below the poverty line; but through microfinance scheme, they have attained remarkable development and the people’s lives changed.
He said the essence of the workshop is to sensitize the staff on the key areas of fund disbursement and management with focus on the people that most need the loans and ways of recovering them.
The director encouraged everyone to participate in the scheme, informing that donor agencies abroad plan to commit over $250 million to micro-credit scheme banks, to help Africans improve their standard of living. 
Mr. Tom Qwugha, director general, Bayelsa State Micro Credit Administration Agency, said the workshop will awake moral values in dealing with the people, and that the present governor is planning to inject over 2 billion naira into the scheme as a means of reducing poverty.
He added that areas which deserve more attention at the moment are farming, trading and fishing, and that loans will be granted to various people to pay back at a scheduled time.
