ANCO Inaugurates New Executives

The Association of Nigeria Courier Operators (ANCO) on Tuesday, in Lagos, inaugurated a new-seven member executives, while harping on the need to revolutionize the industry for greater contributions to the nation’s development.

Mr. Toyin Olufade, the immediate past president, in his valedictory message during the occasion, said that the Association welcomes alliances with stakeholders, players, influencers, decision makers, who are spurred by instincts and studied, deliberate actions to make the industry more functional.

He emphasized that ANCO has been at the Vanguard of the set up of an Independent Courier Regulator and participated actively in submissions of both to the House of Representatives at a privately sponsored hearing and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

According to him the expedience for a Commission for the industry is primed on the need for it to witness the boom expected. “We vehemently detest a situation where a player is also a regulator,” he said.

Mr. Siyanbola Oladapo,  new ANCO president, in his acceptance speech, said that the founding fathers of the Association have every cause to be happy that the vision for the establishment is on course.

He added that the industry has grown in leaps and bounds, even as every successive leadership has demonstrated a high degree of integrity and sincerity in achieving the goals and objectives of the Association. “Ours I promise you will not be an exemption,” he said.

However, all eyes are definitely on Oladapo as expectations are higher. He is well respected amongst members of the Association and the Industry regulators and stakeholders going by accolades he received at his company recently concluded 5th Bowill Errands annual lecture. He is seen by members as a capable, tested and a thorough bred professional. Interestingly, he has just been appointed about 3 weeks ago as Diocesan Adviser and Diocesan Board Member of Anglican Communion.

Being a member, Chartered Institute of Management (MNIM), the industry will benefit from his managerial prowess. He has a distinct personality which earned him the nickname Mr. Bowtieof Courier Industry.

He rolled out the following developmental agenda: Robust membership base, articulate and highly proactive Association/Exco; expanding business frontier in West Africa, championing establishment of umbrella body for courier companies in West Africa; a vibrant and responsive secretariat, regular stakeholders meeting, joining hands to flush out illegal operators; facilitating ease of assessing cheaper loans by operators; setting up machinery for building a befitting secretariat amongst others.

Other members of the new executives include Lara Okuneye, vice president, Okey Uba, general secretary, Oluranti Shobande, financial secretary, Tolu Omamadaga, assistant general secretary, Ahmed Abu, treasurer and Toyin Adeojo, public secretary.
