With the future increasingly looking bleak, courier operators under the aegis of Association of Nigeria Courier Operators (ANCO) has dispatched a five-man delegation to Ghana in search of new market opportunities.
The Nigerian team met with top echelons of courier/postal sector in Ghana and discussed areas of interests ahead of the emergence of regional and continental courier associations.
Mr. Siyanbola Oladapo, president of ANCO said that the move was part of his election campaign promises to ensure members do not rely largely on deliveries from the capital market or remain local champions.
“We intend to expand to other West African markets. The synergy among has been there too, even in the Europe.
“Again, we intend to achieve an Association of West African Courier Operators (AWACO). That will trigger the benefits accruable to West African people and increase the business opportunities. Before the end of the year, we should have set in motion machineries to make this happen and it can lead to the emergence of Association of African Courier Operators (AACO). The intent still is to create a market for the Continental operators. Members will also see the need to standardize their business processes; ready for global competitiveness. Once that is done, it means most ‘charlatans’ will excuse themselves from the industry.
“On the side of ANCO members, Oladapo said, they are now disciplined and committed to professionalism following several trainings organized by both the executives and the Courier Regulatory Department (CRD) of NIPOST recently”.
