Nigerians have reacted angrily to the suspension of Nigeria Air, the controversial national carrier project with some likening it to Ponzi schemes such as Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox (MMM).
MMM was as a Russian company that perpetrated one of the world’s largest Ponzi schemes of all time which crashed in Nigeria in December 2016; with millions of naira belonging to Nigerians.
Nigerians reacted to the suspension of the national carrier project, after Hadi Sirika, minister of State for Aviation, announced that “Today, the government at the FEC took decision to suspend the national carrier project till further notice.
“It has nothing to do with pressure from stakeholders and it also not for political reasons.
“The decision to come up with national carrier in the first place was as a result of the lack of capacity of the existing carrier to meet demands,” Sirika said.
Nigerians however have expressed their immense displeasure at the decision which has apparently reinforced anti-government sentiments and further reduced the popularity of President Buhari among the general public.
Most Nigerians compared the apparently hypothetic Nigeria Air to the Russian Ponzi Scheme MMM which fleeced millions of Nigerians of their hard gotten money.
