The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) will conduct election into its National Executive Council at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for Friday, April 27, 2012.
At the close of nomination of candidates on April 16, 2012, front runners among those vying for various positions include Engr. Lanre Ajayi, Olusola Teniola, Engr. Anthony Nwosu, David Roberts, Aderonke Adeyegbe, Myke Ofili, Sunday Gbenjo and Akinlabi Akin Akinbo.
All positions in the Council are being contested.
Engr. Titi Omo-Ettu, outgoing president of the association who has completed his two-year tenure as the president of the association would step down for his successor, same day.
He would make his final comments on a few industry issues and attend to questions and answers from the media for the final time as president of Atcon, a day to the election.
Omo-Ettu, an astute industry expert has close to four decades of active participation in the Nigerian telecommunication development.
He is a passionate advocate for good quality of service and the penetration of broadband in Nigeria.
He is a telecommunications consultant and trainer with focus on education processes, youth development, and universal access. He has been consultant to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) from its inception in 1993 to 2010 serving the commission in the areas of industry studies and research, universal service plans and internet applications.
He offers similar services to private sector clients.
He is managing partner of Telecom Answers Associates, founder of the Cyberschuul, and publisher of CyberschuulNews.com
Omo-Ettu is Fellow-elect, Nigerian Academy of Engineering, Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers; Fellow Telecom Executive Management Institute, Canada; and Member, Nigerian Institute of Management.
