Customers will now heave a sigh of relief and patronize any bank as Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim, acting managing director, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has assured that Nigerian banks are now safe for transaction.
In an interview with news men in Kaduna after his opening speech at the intensive Communication Skills Course, organised by the NDIC in conjunction with the ASSP Management Services at the Hamdala Hotel in Kaduna, the acting managing director said the current reforms introduced by Sanusi Lamido, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria has solved the anticipated problems by customers.
“Customers who patronise Nigerian banks can be rest assured that their monies are safe in any bank now. Since the CBN intervention, everything has been going well with the banks and I have to tell you that the banks are now safe. Depositors can sleep with their two eyes closed,” Umar confirmed.
On the issue of depositors whose money are stuck in the failed banks, the acting GM said NDIC has taken measures to ensure those customers get their money. He advised those having such problems to make sure they visit NDIC office for verifications.
