Girls’ power seems to be too much for guys participating in the ongoing Zain/MTV Advance Warning, a reality music TV show that gives contestants a chance at stardom, N5 million and a brand new music video, guaranteed airtime play on MTV Base.
Armed with great music talents, most of the rising female artistes that have so far measured up with the guys, have outshined them, raising the profile of the ladies.
There are nine female artistes in the group comprising 26 emerging artists selected from across the Nigerian music spectrum after passing through the screening lens of Zain and MTV.
Nicky Laoye, Dee, a.k.a. Diana Bada, Durella and the other ladies have displayed immense musical prowess during their respective contests which pitched them against male opponents. These have now been joined by multi-faceted singer-songwriter Dee who has won through to the next round of the compelling music TV series.
Dee, who creates a unique sound of her own by blending hip hop with soul, jazz and reggae influences, is the fourth female artist to qualify for the semi finals. She will join Soty, Waje, Kel and 10 other artists in the semi final, which will take place in Lagos on December 7.
This intensive two week music ‘academy’ is the ultimate ‘finishing school’ for up and coming artists, allowing the three finalists to polish and hone their songwriting, singing and choreography skills, aided by high profile international mentors and guides.
