BBM Rolls out for Samsung, Due for iPhone, Others Tomorrow
BBM is now available for download for Samsung customers in Sub-Saharan Africa in the Samsung Apps and shall be available for iPhone and other Android users in Africa from Friday this week.
Blackberry on Tuesday described same as incredible the enthusiasm and demand for BBM on other platforms with about six million people pre-registered at BBM.com.
While this interest is a testament to the public’s appetite for BBM, it also means that the demand needs to be managed. As a result, a simple line-up system will be implemented to ensure a smooth roll out.
Blackberry therefore listed the implementation plan to include, “customers are to visit BBM.com to be connected to the BBM page in the Samsung App Store; download the BBM app from the Samsung App Store; once the app has been installed, open it and enter an active email address. This will ensure that the user is placed in a queuing system and notification will be sent to users via that email once they have reached the front of the line, and they will then be able to launch the application and officially sign-in and start using BBM”.
BBM promises to be the best private social network for people’s most important contacts and conversations.
“Users can rest assured that only the people they have allowed as contacts will have access to them or their statuses. BBM uses PINs to protect personal information. People can share a phone number or email to connect or engage, but ONLY if they want to. BBM is immediate, trusted and puts control of personal information in the hands of the user”.
The majority of BBM customers use BBM an average of 90 minutes per day. Currently, BBM customers collectively send and receive more than 10 billion messages each day. Messages on BBM are typically read within seconds, reflecting how truly engaged BBM customers are.
