Broadband Rights Network Woos Nigerians on Broadband Growth Campaign

Broadband Rights Advocacy Network-Africa has continued its exploits in campaign for broadband growth in Nigeria.

The Network recently organized an “International Stakeholder Forum on Accelerating Nationwide Broadband Access in Nigeria” held in Lagos, where stakeholders unanimously agreed on the need for more advocacies capable of inducing extremely productive and a great success of the course.

Broadband Rights Advocacy Network – Africa, the organisation that organised the event, is an industry alliance formed with the objective to preserve the right of everyone to have access to a Broadband Connection in Africa.

In a statement sent to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, Joy Okorodudu, consultant, Openmedia Communications, said the Network tracks Broadband Infrastructure development in Africa and engage in workshops, seminars and capacity building initiatives to facilitate good policy as well as regulatory environments that advance rapid and pervasive broadband growth, especially to the rural populace - thus driving the “include all and exclude none” policy.

She further explained, “Our mission is to facilitate the deployment of broadband infrastructure to attain pervasive high speed internet that will make available the life-changing opportunities in the digital economy to everyone.

“We will achieve this by engaging with the political class in State and Local Governments, Rural Communities and Development Agencies in Africa to propagate the ideals for faster and wider broadband coverage.

“We also undertake studies and publish objective and evidence-based information and statistics on broadband’s impact on economic, social, and educational issues, medical care, business, and employment opportunities arising from the wide availability of broadband infrastructure in urban, semi-urban and rural areas”.

Okorodudu added that the Network expects more Nigerians to join Broadband Rights Advocacy Network – Africa, and get involved in the push to make a fully broadband-enabled population a reality in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

“As a member, you’ll be informed in advance of all upcoming workshops, seminars, and events, and kept up to date on organisational activities, goals, and milestones achieved. You will also receive periodic communications from us about the state of broadband infrastructure development in general and interesting developments in broadband technology,” she added.
